Walking to my cranio sacral practice one day I saw this leaf embedded in the double yellow lines of the road. It struck me as sad and beautiful, like a modern day mosquito trapped in amber.

I’ve been involved with cranio sacral therapy for 19 years as a therapist and trainer. Craniosacral work involves mediating deeply for hours each day which was one of the things that helped me write this book. When I’m not writing I oversee Open Source Cranio which is aimed at making cranio sacral training freely available to people in developing countries.
At other times in my life, I’ve been a carpenter, a salesman, a scriptwriter, a cameraman, a TV presenter, a driver, a factory worker, an artist, a photographer, a labourer.
Like most people my age I’ve had many lives within the one. I’ve loved deeply, cried hard, lost what was most precious to me and been given the greatest of gifts.

I got the cosmic joke from an early age but for most of my life I’ve been saddened by how few people are laughing.
My spiritual life took the form of science fiction in my teens, which led to a personal development trainings in the 80’s and 90’s and then to more serious spiritual enquiry in the mid 90’s and ultimately to a 10-year association with Barry Long.
I pretty much did the classic story of looking for enlightenment, finding a master, kneeling at his feet, then seeing through the façade and finding my own way.

I am Irish originally but after 10 years of living in Australia I became an Australian citizen too. I am happily married to my darling wife Mege and we currently live in Dublin with our two cats. I have one teenage daughter.
I live an ordinary life. I get irritated by the funny little things that most people get irritated by. I watch TV. I gossip about celebrities. I drink – too much on occasion – still. I go on holidays. I watch my weight, sometimes with dismay. I see the divinity in everyone I meet and have done for as long as I can remember.
